My Review: Digital copy is unwatchable - Conversion failed and I didn't notice until several months later. Deleted the digital version and since the movie itself was crappy, I've deemed it not worth revisiting for digitization.

Director: Stuart Rosenberg
Starring: James Brolin, Margot Kidder, Rod Steiger, Don Stroud, Murray Hamilton
Genre: Horror
Studio: American International Pictures (AIP)   Release date: 1979   Rated: R
Language (Country): English, Spanish (USA)
Summary: Newlyweds move into a house where a murder was committed, and experience strange manifestations which drive them away.
My Rating:
My Review: A masterpiece of terror. This 1979 thriller is supposedly based on the 'True Story' of George Lutz and his wife Kathleen. Played by James Brolin and Margot Kidder. George and Kathleen move into their new dream home and begin settling in. Unfortunately, the house doesn't take kindly to their intrusion. In no time at all the paranormal haunting and demonic possessions start to ramp up. Even a priest is no match for the evil forces inhabitting this house. The murders that happened years ago have corrupted the very fabric of reality and this house is a nexus where evil resides. The music in this movie was fantastic. The editing, direction and pacing were perfect. The acting was very good and the spare story kept this viewer focused on the terror. The best part of the movie was the music. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Studio: Otto Preminger Films   Release date: 1959   Rated: Not Rated

Summary: Frederick Manion (Ben Gazzara), a lieutenant in the army, is arrested for the murder of a bartender, Barney Quill. He claims, in his defense, that the victim had raped and beaten up his wife Laura (Lee Remick). Although Laura supports her husband's story, the police surgeon can find no evidence that she has been raped. Manion is defended by Paul Biegler (James Stewart), a humble small-town lawyer and recently deposed district attorney. During the course of interviews, Biegler discovers that Manion is violently possessive and jealous, and also that his wife has a reputation for flirting with other men. Biegler realizes that the prosecution will try to make the court believe that Laura had been drunk and was picked up by the bartender and then Her husband killed him and beat her up when he discovered they had been together. Manion pleads "not guilty" and Biegler, who knows that his case is weak, tries to find evidence that will save Manion.

Collection ID 184
Director: Adam McKay
Starring: Will Ferrell, Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner
Genre: Comedy
Studio: Universal Studios   Release date: 2004   Rated: Unrated
Language (Country): English, French (USA)
Summary: If you like silly comedy than this movie is for you.

The lines in the movie are classic and everyone in the film is hilarious.

Ron Burgundy falls in love with and has to battle with Christina Applegate. Not only does he have to worry about his love life, but he also has to worry about his dog who speaks spanish and the hatred he faces from the other news teams (Hilarious scene featuring Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Luke Wilson, and Tim Robbins)

I gave the fim 4 stars. I know I can watch it whenever I feel like just laughing.

Who knew that Paul Rudd was so funny?

My Rating:
My Review: Will Ferrell at his funiest. What a laugh fest. Written by Adam McKay & Will Ferrel, Directed by Adam McKay. I thought it was just going to be another one of those extended 'Saturday Night Live' skits. You know, some yucks, and a 'little' story. Well, it was much more. A LOT of laughs, and a little story. Seriously though, the story was thin at best. I could care less about 'Ron Burgundy', he was just a good reason to polk fun at the 70's, ourselves and goofy anchormen. 'Great Odin's beard' this was a funny movie. Everyone in the movie was funny. The news team fight scene was awesome. The soundtrack was great. This movie gets a 5 out of 5.

Collection ID 1
Director: Alan Parker
Starring: Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro, Lisa Bonet, Charlotte Rampling, Stocker Fontelieu
Genre: Horror
Studio: Carolco International N.V.   Release date: 1987   Rated: R
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: Harry Angel has a new case, to find a man called Johnny Favourite. Except things aren't quite that simple and Johnny doesn't want to be found. Let's just say that amongst the period detail and beautiful scenery, it all gets really really nasty.
My Rating:
My Review: A superb supernatural thriller starring Mickey Rourke (as Harry Angel) and Robert De Niro (as Louis Cyphre). Harry Angel is a private dick, trying to get by in Brooklyn (set in the mid 50s). Working the odd, cheating wife, insurance scam, missing persons job; Harry has lined up a wealthy foreign client. Louis Cyphre wants Harry to find a missing soldier. The man owes mr. Cyphre on a debt. All he wants Harry to do is determine whether the soldier is dead of alive. Harry diligently goes about his job, but things quickly become complicated when he pursues the missing person down to Louisiana. Filled with atmosphere, great characters and some subtly complex story lines. The camera work is outstanding, the atmosphere sublime. Mickey Rourke was outstanding. Casting was excellent and direction was terrific. I own it, for good reason. Worth watching, again and again. I give it a 5 out of 5.

Collection ID 606
Director: Kristian Fraga
Starring: Doug Friedline, Steve Lonegan, Dave Musikant, Mrs. Musikant, Fred Pesce
Genre: Documentary
Studio: XMark Monkey   Release date: 2005   Rated: NR
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: Three Candidates, Two blind Politicians, One Race. Anytown USA follows a tightly run race in the small town of Bogota, New Jersey and resonates as an all-too-familiar look at partisan politics in our increasingly polarized nation.
My Rating:
My Review: My fifth movie from Filmmovement.com. This one is a documentary about local politics. I didn't care for it. It was well directed, but there wasn't much to it. O.k. a three way race for Mayor in a tiny po-dunk town. I expected there to be some low-leve self-serving back-stabbing and there was. Nothing really surprising about this movie. Two of the characters were partially blind, and one had a yellow tint under his eyes, which led me to believe that he might have some type of liver ailment. He did, and his opponents used it to advance their campaigns. I had to stop half way through the movie. It was literally boring me to death. I picked it up again later, and watched it through to the end. The director managed to make a foregone conclussion into a tense ten minutes as we await the verdict. The incumbent was reelected by a landslide. Surprised? Neither was I. The direction and pacing were well done, but the subject matter just wasn't all that interesting.
