Summary: A man becomes increasingly jealous of his friend's newfound success.
My Rating:
My Review: Unfortunately, I bought this movie before watching it. I purchased it on the weight of its principles and a few clips. This film is horribly produced, there are video and sound problems, and the editing was... rushed? Staring Jack Black, Ben Stiller, and Christopher Walken; I had high hopes for this comedy. The only redeeming feature was Christopher Walken as 'the J man'. I kept waiting for the laughs, but they never materialized. The ending was horrible! 2 of 5.

Director: Jack Woods, Mark Thomas McGee, Dennis Muren
Starring: Edward Connell, Barbara Hewitt, Frank Bonner, Robin Christopher, Jack Woods
Genre: Horror, Adventure, Mystery
Studio: Tonylyn Productions Inc.   Release date: 1970   Rated: GP
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: Four friends are attacked by a demon while on a picnic, due to possession of a tome of mystic information. Told in flashbacks by the sole survivor.
My Rating:
My Review: An amazing low budget, b-grade, sci-fi masterpiece. Created as a student project with a $6,500.00 price tag, this film manages to incorporate all the classic earmarks of low budget cult movies. A small amateur cast, an isolated setting, ambitious special effects, and a lot of imagination. The story begins in narrative by a lone survivor, but it quickly enters the realm of first person as we're captivated by this fantastic sci-fi, horror plot involving an amazing set of characters, stop motion animation, excellent (if low budge) special effects and a crazy story. A group of California teenagers stumble upon a mystical book, a hidden castle, and a demonic plot. The characters are outstanding, the special effects cheesy but awesome and the plot as crazy as the mad hatter. The pacing was perfect, the tension high, and I was glued to the screen as this magnificent amateur production paraded across my 52" flat panel. I love b-horror/sci-fi and this movie fits perfectly into the pantheon of classics such as 'Evil Dead', 'The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra' and 'Incubus' (with William Shatner). I loved it. 5 out of 5.

Collection ID 446
Director: Jeff Daniels
Starring: Jeff Daniels, Harve Presnell, Joey Albright, Wayne David Parker, Randall Godwin
Genre: Comedy
Studio: Purple Rose Productions   Release date: 2001   Rated: PG-13
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: A humorous and relatable story of an intelligent man dealing with the frustration of being a "buckless Uper" at deer camp. He deals with his competitive brother, his challenging father and two other comical guys. Men will easily relate to the angst. Women will have fun as long as they're willing to avoid trying to find a deep plot line the first time they watch.
My Rating:
My Review: Written, directed, and starring Jeff Daniels. I had to see this movie. I'm from northern Wisconsin, my parents live very near the upper-peninsula, and I've 'Yupper' friends. I really had to know whether they did the Yupper accent correctly. The lead character is the middle aged son of the Soady clan. Cursed, Rueben Soady returns yet again on the annual deer hunting pilgrimage. The men of the clan gather at the hunting lodge as part of a manhood ritual. Rueben shakes things up in order to lift the curse (never bagged a buck). The results are hilarious. Ridiculous characters, a preposterous plot, lots of fart jokes, and some really funny physical comedy. I loved it.

Genre: Action, Sci-Fi, TV Movie
Studio: Twentieth Century Fox   Release date: 1971   Rated: G
Language (Country): English (USA)
Summary: Following the events in "Beneath the Planet of the Apes", Cornelius and Zira flee back through time to 20th Century Los Angeles, where they face fear and persecution similar to what Taylor and Brent suffered in the future, and discover the origins of the stream of events that will shape their world.
My Rating:
My Review: The third installment of the Planet of the Apes series. Starring Roddy McDowall (as Cornelius), Kim Hunter (as Dr. Zira), Ricardo Montalban (as Armando), and others. The story - Cornelius, Zira and Milo travel back in time by repairing one of the space ships used by the humans. They land in 20th century LA. At first they're treated as oddities, then celebrities, then the president's science advisor raises the the twin specters of suspicion and fear! So tell us again.. In the future, Apes will conquer man? and man will be the slaves? Let the interrogations and experiments begin. What about their baby? Zira is pregnant! Will these two apes become the progenitors of these intelligent apes that eventually overthrow man's dominance? It's an excellent time travel movie. Filled with social commentary, drama, and sci-fi action. While this movie lacked the power of the original film, the acting was far better than that of the second movie. Some plot holes remain, but the movie remained engaging throughout. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Language (Country): English, French (USA)
Summary: A couple (
My Rating:
My Review: Written (in part) and directed by Michel Gondry (The Science of Sleep, Be Kind Rewind). Starring Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, Tom Wilkinson, Elijah Wood and others. This one is a winner (won an oscar for best screen play in 2005 - Kate Winslet was nominated for best actor. Another 36 wins & 50 nominations). It takes place in the recent past, present, future? It's hard to tell exactly. The film carefully avoids any specific characterization in regards to period. The story - When your relationship goes bad, you can have the memory selectively erased. As if you'd never met/known the person - really? Two lovers (Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet) have the procedure performed after a particularly acrimonious break-up. During and after the procedure, they wish that they hadn't undergone the procedure. With several twists and turns, this quirky and original romance is a fantastic drama with sci-fi flourishes. The acting and direction were superb, the pacing fantastic, the camera work and set work amazing and the music brilliant.
